The Beginning
To talk about CHIMO we have to go far back to America`s colonial times, when the Spaniards, in their expeditions, encountered indigenous communities settled on the surroundings of Urao Lagoon; there the natives prepared the CHIMO using as seasoning an spice they named “chi” while “mo” was the tobacco extract, resulting thus in the name “chimo” that even today, centuries later, is still used, maintaining its indigenous character and mystic, thanks to Chimo El Tigrito with its ancestral formula and characteristic quality.
Historical Review
Ours is a family enterprise, created by Don Avelino Molina, a farmer born in the city of Merida to a Chimo producing family, his father, Calixto Molina, dedicated his life to the elaboration of Chimo in its traditional craft form, later, in the 70`s in the town of San Francisco, Merida State, Don Avelino, following his cultural heritage, begins the CHIMO production in an industrialized style.
In august 2, 1989 Fabrica de Chimo el Tigrito, C.A is founded in the town of San Francisco in allegiance with Doña Elvira Arellano, to be later moved to the city of Barquisimeto, Lara State, in 1995.
Bit by bit Chimo El Tigrito became a national icon, expanding to all regions of the country, promoting its growth. Later Don Avelino`s children followed his steps, incorporating new technologies and extending the market dominance, improving the fabrication technics by means of an ample, detailed, and high-quality process, positioning the product as leader in the Venezuelan market, distinguishing itself as “brave, tasty, traditional and high quality”
History that transcends
In 2012, after a successful trajectory at a national scale, the company moves its factory and main headquarters to Barquisimeto`s Industrial Zone III, upgrading its production process, leaning on a solid administrative structure.
Today the company uses state of the art technology and offers its patrons a fine product, manufactured upon the highest standards of quality and excellence, in its four (4) varieties: Chimó el Tigrito Tradicional, Chimó El Tigrito Ice, Chimó El Tigrito El Más Bravo and Chimó Herbal Liptus.
